Not much going on today although my shift at KCOU went pretty good, thanks
to everyone who tuned in. Check it out next week if you missed this weeks

Just thought I'd post a message about KCOU's new website. KCOU is the college radio station I do a shift at and recently we've posted our new website and we are testing our Internet broadcast server. If you are interested, I do a show every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm CST.
That is:
9am - 11am PST (West Coast)
10am - 12pm MST (Mountain)
12pm - 2pm EST (East Coast)
17:00 - 19:00 GMT (I think anyway)
I mostly play techno type music. It is not GTA related at all. My roommate Sean does the show just before mine from 9am to 11am and my other roommate Zac does the 6am to 9am show :). I'm not really sure what they play because I'm in class most of that time. Either way most KCOU djs play pretty obscure stuff you won't hear on top 40 stations and each dj plays pretty much whatever they want on their shift. Anyway, if you get a chance, check out the show and don't laugh too hard when I screw up :). KCOU's website can be found at kcou.mu.org and our zine's website is at snocone.mu.org. We are currently encoding for the Windows Media Player, mainly because its free and Real Networks charges out the ass. That may change in the future but right now we are just testing it out.

to be making its way around the GTA scene. People using Outlook
and Outlook Express are particularly susceptible. Check GTA:

ATTENTION ALL GTA FANS AND SITE WEBMASTERS:-
sW@Nukez.com has been infected with the WScript KakWorm email virus. This is a DoS virus that installs itself as your default OE signature and then sets up a link in the Startup folder to to deny you computer access on specific days of the month.Norton didn't catch it until I scanned the file manually, MacAfee seems unable to catch it in your email box. Once installed it should presumable be possible to remove it by changing your email signature and/or converting your send-message type to plain text only. The you will need to check for "kak.hta" in your Startup folder and deleting it.
If you have any fears, or you don't have a virus killer installed (bad, bad boy/girl) go to www.nai.com and use the MacAfee online virus scanner.
This email will be posted on GTAzz's Message Board and has been sent to SW himself - sorry you have to find out this way old chap but this is too urgent to piss about with pleasantries!
Time to get those virus killers working - whaddaya mean you don't have one?!

killer, or you could try www.nai.com - home of MacAfee, where they
have an online scanner.
Fake Updates

Uhh.. I seem to be receiving a wealth of fake updates all sent from the
same server... Just a few suggestions to whomever is doing it...
If you are going to spoof a message from a Hotmail account you should at least tack the standard Hotmail sig on the end of the email.
Sending 4 messages of questionable nature all in a row and all from originating from freeservers.com doesn't help the believability of your hoax. Next time you might want to try sending them one by one on separate days ;).
You might want to try sending and receiving an email from the DMA webmaster before trying to fake one of his emails.
Artur's writing style is different than yours, might want to try sending/receiving an email from him before you try faking an email from him as well.
Lastly, Klamy
doesn't have net access at the moment, so him sending a message from a
BT account that doesn't exist anymore is pretty damn hard.

GTaEdit, hosted
by GTA Zone.
The site is in German and currently features map editing tutorials and
scripts. They have plans to test maps, add more tutorials, and add

on violence in videogames.. Although I do agree with one statement in

Not much going on today, just waiting for the UPS man to show up and I
think I'm going to hit the GTA Webring and send out that email and work
on some general maintenance. I did find a minor problem with the
frames and no frames version of the webring page, for some reason Shatscape
4.7 decided to ignore the fact that I've specified the size of a table
cell and lets the webring form push it around. The form works fine,
it just fux up my table alignment... Internet Exploder doesn't seem
to have a problem with it...
Grr... After a healthy bitch session with the web host I got the accounting problem cleared and the site taken off of suspension. Unfortunately someone forgot to actually put the damn thing back online. Looks like I'll be making some more calls tomorrow to sort this out again. The strange thing is that I was able to view the site from the radio station I was doing my shift at so I figured it was all sorted out. Then I get home only to find out it still not online. I'm not sure what that was about but hopefully I'll find out tomorrow. Aqutiv mentioned on BBZilla that at times yesterday he could see the site and even read the update I posted yesterday, although I'm not sure why. Oh well, not much going on anyway, just me talking to myself, posting updates on a site that isn't even online. Actually I do have a few things to post but I don't see much point posting it today when no one can read it anyway...
G! was offline most of the day today due to some billing complications. If you are reading this it means its probably Wednesday and I've got everything straightened out with the host. If you aren't reading this then it means I'm explaining all this to myself :) .
I'm not sure about the "well" part, but Klamy is alive and without Internet access. Mugwum was recently contacted by everyone's favorite GTAer missing in action. I'm not sure if he intends on returning to the GTA scene anytime soon but when I know more I'll post something. I'm just glad to hear he is doin ok...

"It's big word for that, but many times I thought about that. All over the world are many people who have access to Internet and GTA (1 or 2). Look for example on GTAzz forum. There are not many people who REALLY LOVE GTA (like me ;-P): Azz, Lingster, Henrik Larrson, JH4C, Aqutiv and much more... But maximum about there are 100 people in GTA scene (still, w/o breaks). But all over the world are many people who have GTA and can do new cars, maps and much more things into GTA scene...So I asked some my GTA friends on ICQ are there in theirs countries some GTA pages in theirs languages. And the answers are: "No, nothing" ; "yes, but very lame, only with tips, cheats" ; "No, sometime was one". I could also answered "No, only one" about 5 months ago on this question about my country - Poland but NOW I can answer "Yes, about 5-7 sites". In about October were only one GTA page in Poland (now it's GTA VAULT [gta.gry.pl] with new webmaster), but I decided to reanimate it. I posted some news there and something happened on our Polish GTA world. Slowly, slowly new GTA pages in Poland were made, new carmakers started to do new cars (like Artur Lion [me, haha], Fan Anf, Kan, Przybysz, 7olik) and some new TC projects. And in about 4 months our GTA scene reanimate to its now size. I think if in other countrys do something like in Poland will "appear" more new good (not always ;-P) carmakers, TCmakers or whatever else.
So I chatted with BJay (from GTA+/WARPED). He's Dannish and said in his country is only some GTA pages with tips and cheats. So for reanimate Dannish GTA scene/world he will do GTADK page (GTA DENMARK). And also some other persons (like Arnout from Netherlands ; GTANL) can do the same things in theirs country. And then You will be member of GTAINT (GTA INTERNATIONAL).
So Ur countrys GTA site MUST BE/HAVE:
- in country's national language !!!
- cars page, only this country's carmakers !!! with awards, group for ex. for 20 cars per group
- national GTA 1 or 2 (or both) MULTIPLAYER LEAGUE
- needs files, like a GTACARS, editors etc. with description in of course national language
- and some needs information about GTA
- name site like this:
GTAXX, where XX is name of Your country in short, like PL for Poland, UK for United Kingdom, IL for Israel, all like in domains...Then You will be member of GTAINT (it will be in English) and then we can do international cups with best GTA multiplayer players from each country for (maybe in future official) name GTA 1 (or 2) MULTIPLAYER WORLD CHAMPION. About that I wrote last time. I think better is separated cups in GTA 1 and GTA 2. And then will be 2 matches between 2 players - one in CN (cannonball) and one in DM (deathmatch). Rules I can send when I rewrote it and translate into English.
OK! It's only IDEA but BJay, Arnout and some 2 guys (cosmos from Israel and Graham Wolski from Canada) what's to do it. Maybe it will reanimate GTA scenes on whole world. Maybe some carmakers will appear when they will see [******] cars first carmakers in theirs countries.
PLS Write to me about that. We will do international league and GTAINT if some people want to reanimate GTA scene in theirs countries...

Due to technical problems with my computer (harddisk crash), and due to my hard work to get me a new and better job (the previous was a pure junkjob), the first edition of the mag will be postponed two months. So instead of showing next to nothing in the first edition I'll try to find some more information, so if you have any news of interest regarding GTA, GTA2, GTA3D, GTA4 then send 'em in to me. The first edition will be at hand the 15:th June.

Woo... A Thursday with an actual update :) ... Not a lot, but a lot better
than nothing...

- Not much going on, and if Thursday is the same as it always is tomorrow won't be much different...
The Dreamcast version of GTA2 should be out sometime this month. dc.ign.com posted a small article on the DC games of April and GTA2 was among them. I also saw a short article in the May/June 2000 issue of the Official Sega DC magazine. From everything I read GTA2 should be almost an exact port, but will not include multiplayer support.
In case you hadn't noticed, Freeloader.com has gone live and you can now download GTA for free. Well sort of. From what I can tell, Freeloader works off of a credit system where you earn credits by viewing advertisements and answering questions. Each game you download cost a set number of credits. Its not a bad system, but I don't think GTA is exactly the full version because they seem to have it split up into different episodes. Either way its still got to be better than the demo if you are still a holdout who hasn't bought it yet.

The Voice has created a new map for GTA2 entitled, My
Map (v.99b) (202k). I haven't
installed the map yet so I'm not sure what to expect just yet. The
readme is in German so you might want to translate it using Babelfish
over on Altavista. The translation is rather rough but its mainly
installation instructions. Basically just copy all the files to
their appropriate directories and make sure to backup any files before
you overwrite them.

Tanks / WAP GTA
WAP GTA News:- In response to new competition I've totally revamped my site, WAP GTA News, I gave myself a three-hour crash course in WML and have managed to come up with a much tidier site, go to go.to/gta_tanks (WAP) to have a look at it. Also, if people want to look at WAP sites but don't want to download WinWap, they can go to www.gelon.net where there is a great online WAP emulator.
GTA Tanks:- There was a massive update on my site on Thursday, including a new Tankwatch initiative and a chance to vote for the colour of my visited links, which are apparently impossible to see at the moment.New address:- I've omitted the underscore ( _ ) from the GTA Tanks address so it is now go.to/gtatanks, the old address still works but the underscore must be a right pain to type into a mobile phone, that's why I changed it.
WAP GTA Tanks:- You're playing on Grand Theft Auto, happily shooting cops and hijacking cars, you're just about to answer the phone for your next mission when suddenly something happens. You break out in a sweat, you begin to feel weak and desperate, you...can't...go..on much longer, you desperately need an explosion, and you need one fast. In your tankless fever you have an brilliant idea! You lunge for you mobile phone, your life ebbing away as your clammy fingers punch in go.to/gta_tanks, just a few clicks away and there you have it, the golden coordinates of the nearest tank. Yes that's right, GTA Tanks is now available to WAP mobile phones @ go.to/gtatanks.
Not much going on today either... I've done some minor tweaking to the site so it fits together better in Netscape 4 and the preview release of Netscape 6. Mainly it was just some minor spacing issues. Also I did read a pretty good article on AVault about Digital Anvil. Digital Anvil is developing a game called Loose Cannon. Judging by the screens and the description, Loose Cannon could be some stiff competition for GTA3D whenever it comes out. Although I don't think I'll ever be totally satisfied with any 3D GTA type game if I can't run down random pedestrians :) .
Dead, as usual... Nothing really going on at the moment but being Thursday, I really didn't expect much. Although I was able to download everything off of the GOURANGA! server and back it up to CDRW. One interesting note on the download was that the web provider's stat program logged 500 MB worth of stats! 500 MB of just html documents. Hell, the site itself, including files, is only 100 MB.
- No Fear is working on his new project/website/something and has posted a rather cryptic Flash message at www.fear-nothing.com.

Ok... Now I'm really confused... Alastair Grant (www.aggta.co.uk) says grandtheftauto.com loads up fine for him. I'm going to try it on a different connection and see what I can find out, but I think he might just be hitting his cache file. The really weird thing is that the provider says they took the server off-line because ASC didn't keep up with their payment, so the server that houses the ASC Games site and GOURANGA! should be off-line, unless ASC changed web providers. Anyway, I've been given access to the server so I have some time to download everything from GOURANGA! before the server is wiped. I also found out through another source that ASC cleared out its office on Friday and their phone numbers have all be disconnected. The strange thing is that they still maintain the ascgames.com domain name, but they have changed the DNS entries. It kind of makes me wonder if they still have plans to come back after they finish doing whatever they are doing. Oh.. One more thing.. I noticed that GTA in the ASC packaging is still on the shelves at EB and is only $10. Then again, these days you might be able to track down the Director's Cut for just a little more.

launching his WAP GTA News site today. What's WAP you ask?
Well, I'm glad you asked, because I didn't know what it was either.
WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol and is used by mobile phones
to access the Internet. So if you want to check out WAP GTA News
you either need a phone capable of accessing the Internet or you can download
WinWAP if you want.
WAP GTA News and GTA Tanks both share the same URL, so if you type go.to/GTA_Tanks

- Turns out you can still get to Graham's site, GTA World 2000, through its old URL graham253.tripod.com/gta_site.htm. In fact I think he is going to drop the other URL since they insist on adding that bs banner bar.
- The World of GTA2 has been redesigned and also has a new URL. You can now find it at gta2.gtaplus.com or at its old URL, worldofgta2.cjb.net.
- Speaking of redesigns, god of gta has just uploaded the new version of his GTA3D site to its home at gta3d.gtaplus.com. god of gta is also looking for someone to work on the cars section of GTA2 site at godofgta.niteshade.net. If you are interested in helping out, you can contact him at godofgta@niteshade.net.
- 360° Software has parted ways with Angelfire and joined the army, the Gamers Army. You can find the site at their new URL, 360.niteshade.net. Be sure to check out their collection of GTA tile packs while you're there.
- Johan is making progress with the GTA E-Zine and it should be online from April 15th to May 12th.

Johan sent in the latest on his GTA clone, Shut Up & Shoot:"The graphics works great and I got a wicked idea to implement a cheat mode that enables you to select the car that you wanna drive without going to the garage to change the car. It also gives you the cash you need and the gun you need. The cheat mode removes you from the hiscore list but so what. You cheated."
