sent an interview to Chatterbox's Lazlow and got a reply. Here is
the interview:
How did you
get involved in GTA3?
LAZLOW)
I met the head of Rockstar Games in the ocean. He bodyboards at the
same break I do. We talked a lot and after a while he invited me to
see their offices. I did and met Dan Houser and we started talking about
radio. Then they told me about this game they were doing and it went
from there.
When you were told about working in GTA3 what were your feelings or had
you never heard of GTA?
LAZLOW)
I had never really heard of GTA. It sounded interesting, and I like
working on different things all the time. I never thought it would be
such an amazing game. So many talented people worked on their parts,
and then DMA put it together in Scotland. When I got my copy I put it
in and was like "Whoa, this is going to be big." And it was.
It boggles my mind that it has sold 5 million copies.
Have you been asked to help in any other GTA games?
LAZLOW)
No. I have done some other production work for Rockstar. I built my
own studios by the beach after I left an ad agency in Manhattan. Rockstar
has me do some work on other stuff. It's easy for them because we can
work in the studio and then go catch some waves.
If they asked you would you say yes?
LAZLOW)
Working with Rockstar was the greatest. Dan Houser, who wrote all of
GTA3, is a genius. I've never met someone so creative.
What was it like making a radio station for GTA3? Did it take long?
LAZLOW)
It took several months. There were weeks I was in the studio from 9am
to midnight.
Did you think up the storyline of it yourself or did you just read from
a sheet?
LAZLOW)
we wrote it over pizza and diet coke.
Were you actually involved in the making of GTA3 or the other radiostations
or did you just stick with chatterbox?
LAZLOW)
I co-wrote and produced the radio stations. DMA in Scotland put a lot
of it together after we gave them the pieces.
Is there anything else you would like to tell your fans?
LAZLOW)
I guess I would say thanks for all the emails. My website has been getting
tons of hits (www.lazlow.com).
I'm glad I got to work on something that made people laugh.
